  Some common idioms that we can use it  in everyday life. The common idioms are as follows:


With one accord - all in agreement

To take advantage of - To make use of someone or something in such a way as to benefit oneself

• Benefit of doubt - To accept the most charitable explainatipn of someone's actions 

• A blessing in disguise - What at first appeared to be

• To make the blood run cold - To terrify someone 

• Open book - Something that can be understood easily 

• To lick someone's boot - To flatter someone i a servile manner to obtain some advantage

• Brain drain - The loss of experts to nother country 

• To have a butterfly in one's stomach - To have an attack of nerves before an important event 

• A feather in one's cap - Something one can be proud of

• Rain cats and dogs - To rain very hard • Blank cheque - Permission to do whatever one considers desirable or necessary 

• To be chicken hearted - To be cowardly, easily frightened

• On cloud nine - Extremely happy 

• With flying colours - With great success, With distinction 

• The creame of society - The aristocracy, the most highly favoured class
